Fun Facts: ‘Frankenstein,’ the ground breaking sci-fi novel written in 1818 by young author Mary Shelley has been the basis for numerous monster movies. In fact, one of the first movie adaptations was done by Thomas Edison in 1910. Only about 15 minutes long, the film’s focus is this: A creature is created by Frankenstein, who is then haunted by it until his wedding night. Since then, we’ve seen movies with ‘Dr. Frankenstein’ (it’s said he was never a doctor, but a student. Who knew?), a mad scientist with his dwarf assistant Igor, a monstrous creation nicknamed ‘Frankenstein’ for all eternity, coupled with various ghastly, dark, gothic and even comedic story lines.
